Ashwin Batish and Family - In Concert

with Keshav Batish on Tabla and Mohini Batish on Tanpura

Held at the beautiful Triyoga Center hall in downtown Santa Cruz, California, the legendary sitar maestro Ashwin Batish counted some very precious blessings on being accompanied by his 12 year old son Keshav Batish on tabla and his 9 year old daughter Mohini Batish on the tanpura. This recording was captured to digital by sound engineer Andrew Foehner who is also one of Ashwin's long time tabla student.

The music is in the North Indian classical tradition. The ragas Dhani, Marg Bihag and Shankara are explored. The instrumental songs are all original creations of Ashwin Batish and his father Pandit Shiv Dayal Batish and show the vivid and rich melodic nature of the Batish family style of compositions - distinctly the "Batish Gharana."
